University & Colleges

Located in the adventurous town of Laramie, the University of Wyoming (UW) is the state’s only four-year university. The University of Wyoming is home to the aptly named Cowboys and Cowgirls and is a world-class educational institution known for breakthroughs in engineering, agriculture, business environment and natural resource studies. The best way to experience the University of Wyoming is to tour the sprawling and beautiful campus. UW comes alive in the fall with autumn colors, excited students, events downtown and crisp afternoon football games. In the summer, browse the Friday night farmers market downtown (July-September). Any time of year, stroll through local shops, visit the Brown and Gold outlet to gear up for a game and get ready to cheer “Go WYO” for the Cowboys and Cowgirls. Wyoming is also home to eight top-notch community colleges in Cheyenne, Powell, Sheridan, Rock Springs/Green River, Casper, Torrington, Riverton and Gillette — a few of these campuses include museums open to the public.
