Evanston

The city of Evanston, Wyoming was built upon a railroad foundation.

Today this town has the only remaining complete roundhouse on the old Union Pacific line between Omaha and Sacramento. Evanston’s charming downtown offers small town hospitality and local shopping experiences. Surrounded by mountains, Evanston is a recreational mecca for camping, hunting, mountain biking and other outdoor opportunities. The Bear River flows right through town creating kayaking, floating and fishing activities, as well. In Bear River State Park, visitors have a great chance of viewing bull elk and bison. South of Evanston sits the Uinta Mountains, featuring Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. For a taste of history, visit Labor Day weekend to enjoy the Mountain Man Rendezvous just a short drive east of town in Fort Bridger State Historic Site.
