Afton

Afton, Wyoming is the largest town within Star Valley, a region made up of 12 towns along the state’s western border.

As you make your way downtown, stop for a photo at the world’s largest Elk Antler Arch. Outdoor enthusiasts can fish along the banks of Swift Creek and enjoy hiking and camping in the nearby Bridger-Teton National Forest. Be sure to take a short hike to see Intermittent Spring just east of Afton if you are visiting in the summer or early fall. This spring is only one of three periodic springs in the world, with water that flows for 18 minutes before suddenly stopping for another 18 minutes. During the winter months, you can grab your sled and explore hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails, including groomed trails and open high country bowls with gorgeous mountain views. No matter what time of year you visit, local restaurants and shops, such as the Star Valley Chocolate Cafe, are sure to show off the charm of this small town.
