Arrive at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and embark on a scenic 1.5-hour drive eastward to Evanston, Wyoming.

Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Bear River State Park. Stroll along the trails, observing diverse birdlife and riverside mammals. Conclude the day with a 50-minute drive to Green River. Check into your chosen lodging. Our recommendation is the Hampton Inn or a little bit before Green River you will find Little America. A unique place to stay as it is its own town and motel, which has its own onsite dining facilities. 

Enjoy dinner at a local Green River establishment, such as The Hitching Post for classic Western fare or Gudino’s Cafe for flavorful Mexican/ American cuisine.

 

Day 2: Wild Horses, Dunes and Ancient Art

Morning:

Start your day with breakfast in Green River at places like Daily Knead or Get Real Coffee.

Embark on the Pilot Butte Wild Horse Scenic Loop, a 24-mile, self-guided adventure. Spend approximately 90 minutes traversing the landscape, spotting wild mustangs and other wildlife, including pronghorn, elk and raptors, while enjoying panoramic views from White Mountain.

Day 3: Fossil Discovery and Return

Embark on a 1.5-hour drive to Fossil Butte National Monument.

Enhance your paleontological journey by participating in a fossil dig with American Fossil, located near Kemmerer. Unearth your own ancient fish, plants, and other specimens from the Green River Formation, providing a hands-on experience distinct from visiting the national monument's exhibits.
