For many women, our lives are rushed, hectic and chaotic. Our days and nights are full of work, community and family responsibilities as we try to keep up with the demands of day-to-day life.
Sometimes we just need to grab a few good friends and retreat to a place with sunshine, fresh air, fish to catch and mountains to climb. A place where we can escape from the hustle and bustle, a place where we can celebrate what it is to be a woman.
That place is Wyoming, and here’s why you need to plan your next girls’ weekend here.
Wyoming is the perfect place for social distancing.
Wyoming is large, sparsely populated, and remote. Here in Wyoming you can spend days in the backcountry without seeing a single soul, unless of course, it’s friends who you are enjoying the adventure with.
Wyoming’s rich history of adventurous women is inspiring.
Wyoming is proud to be the home of the first woman to cast a vote, the first female governor, the first female jurors, the first female bailiff and so much more.
But there are also motivating stories of other Wyoming women who accomplished amazing feats. There’s Lorraine Lindaley who “manned” a fire lookout tower on Medicine Bow Peak at 12,013 feet for several summers starting in 1921 and “Cattle Kate” Watson, a woman landowner and cattle baroness who met her tragic demise and was murdered over a land debate in the late 1880s.
Visiting Wyoming is like stepping back in time and paying homage to incredible women who deserve to be remembered. It’s even better when you can visit and learn about these women with the women in your life.
Wyoming is more diverse than you think.
The state offers a little bit of something for everyone. Wyoming is more than just wind-swept prairies, iconic national parks and scenic mountain vistas. Wyoming cities boast unique restaurants and bars, relaxing spas and educational cultural experiences.
In some Wyoming towns, you can elevate your heart rate with a mountain bike ride, only to be relaxing in a vibrant downtown with a signature cocktail hours later. Or you can simply pack all the gear you and your girlfriends need for a weekend of fly fishing and backpacking.
There’s always skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and rock climbing in the summer for the adrenaline-filled weekend, or stargazing, museum-hopping and autumn leaf peeping for a more relaxing girls weekend.
With our rural roots, rich history and diverse adventure options, Wyoming needs to be next on your list of places to load up the car and visit with your friends. The Equality State is by far the best place for an amazing women-only adventure weekend.
