Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is a land that time forgot. Geologic forces have distorted and bowed once-level layers of rock into immense walls, creating spectacular, 1,000-foot cliffs that loom over the Bighorn Lake.

Diverse landscapes such as forests, mountains, the upland prairies, deep canyons, broad valleys, high desert and wetlands all await your discovery at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. With over 120,000 acres of wilderness that straddle the northern Wyoming and southern Montana borders, Bighorn Canyon offers endless opportunities for adventure flowing all the way down to the end of the Bighorn Mountains. With over 12 hiking trails ranging in length and difficulty, there is a trail for everyone. Bighorn Lake and River provides plenty of fishing and boating adventures in the area. If you are looking for an extended stay, you can find camping along the lake or in Bighorn National Forest. The city of Lovell, Wyoming, offers a handful of hotels nearby.
