One of the most significant archaeological sites of the late-prehistoric Plains Indigenous cultures, the Vore site is a natural sinkhole that served as a bison trap from about 1500 to 1800 A.D. At least five different tribes utilized the Vore site during 300 years, and at least 10,000 bison were trapped there. The Vore Buffalo Jump is open to the public during the summer months. Visitors have the opportunity to learn about the increasingly famous Vore Site, as well as the broader picture of the cultures that Plains Indigenous communities built around the bison.
