The Wyoming Dinosaur Center

The museum has over 30 mounted skeletons, a preparation lab with visitor viewing and hundreds of displays and dioramas. The dig site tour offers a rare opportunity to see dinosaurs buried in the ground. Get in on the hunt for the next big discovery by joining one of our Dig for a Day programs.
The center’s resident rock star is Jimbo the Supersaurus. A 106 foot long sauropod found near Douglas, Jimbo is the largest, most complete Supersaurus ever discovered. He literally stretches from one end of the museum to the other.
Our crown jewel is the Thermopolis Specimen Archaeopteryx. There are only 10 known specimens of this amazing species, thought to be the first true bird, in the entire world. Only ONE of them is on display in North America – and it’s at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center.
Other impressive specimens in the center include Stan the Tyrannosaurus rex and Mary the Albertaceratops, the first of her kind.
The Wyoming Dinosaur Center has 12,000 square feet of exhibition area. Fossils and life forms from earliest geologic time periods are displayed in a chronological perspective. There are over 200 displays throughout the museum.
The museum is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week in the summer. During the winter, hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
