Lake Owen Campground

The campground is adjacent to Lake Owen at 9,000 ft elevation. There are 35 widely spaced campsites with tables, fire rings, trash pick-up, vault-toilets. The understory is grass, but sites are well separated providing adequate privacy. Some sites have views of Owen Lake, and some of the Snowy Range. Owen Lake is 55 acres and offers fishing and boating access. Activities include fishing, motor boating, and canoeing and 4-wheeling on the local roads. Boat ramp is close by. There is hiking, and mountain biking on the Lake Owen Trail which accesses the Medicine Bow Rail Trail. Scenic driving on Hwy 130, a scenic byway. Wildlife viewing in the area.
From Laramie, take WY 130 west 21.7 miles to WY 11. Turn left and go 10.5 miles to Lake Owen sign. Turn left onto Fox Creek Rd. and go 1.7 miles to another Lake Owen sign. Continue straight on Forest Route 517 and go 2.5 miles to still another Lake Owen sign. Turn left onto FR 540 and go 2.8 miles to campground. Latitude: 41.1455296 Longitude: -106.1011226
First come, first served campsites. Fee is $10/night. No reservations needed. There is a 14 day stay limit. Campers longer than 25 feet are not permitted. Campground is open June 15 – Nov. 1 weather permitting.
