Dubois

The town of Dubois is nestled along the upper Wind River, rimmed by the Wind River and Absaroka mountains.

The area offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, mountain biking and fishing, and contains some of the best big game hunting in western America. One of the most authentic ways to experience this Old West town is through an historic dude or guest ranch. Rams Horn Guest Ranch, Crooked Creek Guest Ranch, Triangle C Ranch, Bitterroot Ranch and others boast activities like fly fishing, horseback riding, wildlife viewing and more. Wildlife enthusiasts can learn about Wyoming’s bighorn sheep at the National Bighorn Sheep Interpretive Center, where Whiskey Mountain tours lead you to bighorn sightings and petroglyphs carved by early Native Americans. For winter visitors, Dubois is known for its ice climbing opportunities and is close to Togwotee Pass, where ample snowfall lends well to Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and dog sledding. In the summer, pack your best cowboy boots to experience the Dubois Friday Night Rodeo, which takes place weekly July-August.
