Heart Mountain WWII Interpretive Center

The site of the WWII Heart Mountain “Relocation Center” gained National Historic Landmark status in 2007. Now, with the Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, visitors can take an even more in-depth look at the history and legacy of the 14,000 incarcerees who were forcibly removed from the West Coast and sent to Heart Mountain following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The site, which includes a museum, gallery, war memorial, walking trail, original “camp” structures, research center, and the Mineta-Simpson Institute, is managed by the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation, a non-profit committed to preserving the confinement site and engaging the public about Japanese American incarceration during WWII and current social justice and civil rights issues.
