Edelman Named as New PR Agency of Record for Wyoming Office of Tourism
April 12, 2018—Wyoming—The Wyoming Office of Tourism (WOT) is pleased to announce that Edelman will soon become its public relations agency of record. While Edelman has 65 offices around the world, the WOT account will be serviced from its Seattle office.
“We are passionate about the importance of travel and tourism – as an engine for local economic development and as a vehicle for cultural exchanges,” said Ian Jeffries, senior vice president and travel practice lead, Edelman Seattle. “Wyoming is one of the world’s most amazing destinations, so we are delighted to have an opportunity to bring the state’s stories to life through public relations and earned media.”
The largest global communications marketing firm, Edelman will work closely with WOT to develop a strategic public relations and media outreach plan to garner editorial and media coverage for Wyoming, while sharing the stories of the people, places and spaces in the Cowboy State. A family-owned firm, Edelman’s values align closely with the brand values and people of Wyoming, with a focus on excellence, curiosity and courage.
While WOT received 16 bids in their request for proposal for this account, Edelman rose to the top both in the written and oral presentations as they demonstrated their ability to be strategic thinkers and creators, with a core focus on media relations. In addition, they have a proven track record of impacting positive visitation through public relations campaigns and outreach, as well as insights and skills that will help WOT’s publicity program amplify other marketing programs, including paid advertising and travel trade efforts.
“We are thrilled to begin this new relationship with Edelman,” said Diane Shober, executive director for the Wyoming Office of Tourism. “Tourism marketing is a competitive field and we have the utmost faith in the level of experience, publicity knowledge and integration work that is needed to help Wyoming stand out from other destinations around the world.”
WOT is preparing to launch its third year of the office’s “That’s WY” campaign, with a core focus on bringing the stories of Wyoming to life, from outdoor adventures to family fun and the state’s culinary scene to the world’s first national park.
