Dubois | Rockies to Tetons

The mysterious petroglyphs carved into the boulders in Whiskey Basin are fascinating but puzzling glimpses of a people who lived long ago.
Nobody knows for sure exactly which ancient people made all these rock carvings, exactly when, why, or what they may represent. But it’s great fun to try to figure out what they resemble: Birds? Monsters? Outer space creatures?
The petroglyphs are difficult to find, and we mean to protect them from vandalism. But there are many ways to find a guided tour. Ask at the Visitor Center or the Dubois Museum for further information.
