The Campbell County Rockpile Museum focuses on local and regional history with an emphasis on the culture and people of Campbell County, Wyoming and the Powder River Basin. Our mission:?Collect, Preserve, Educate. The Campbell County Rockpile Museum tells the story of the Powder River Basin.
The Rockpile Museum has exhibits about each of the different
periods in the history of the Powder River Basin. We house large collections of fossils, Native
American artifacts, rifles, saddles, horse-drawn vehicles, and energy industry
equipment. Some of our prized artifacts
include a sheepherder?s wagon, an original homestead shack, a rural dance hall
curtain, and a fossilized tree from 50 million years ago. We have numerous hands-on exhibits for
visitors of all ages to touch and learn from. We also have four videos related to the mining, transportation, and use
of coal from the local mines. The museum also has a full schedule of temporary exhibits and educational programming each year.?
There is something for everyone at the Campbell County
Rockpile Museum. Learn more about the
