The Pinedale Winter Carnival drifts back into Pinedale Presidents Day February 17-19, 2018 to celebrate the magnificent season of ice and snow in Pinedale. The Wintercarn as it is affectionately called is a welcomed social relief after several months of wintery weather, cold temperatures, and mostly hibernating and ?holing? up for the winter. Locals take the opportunity for boisterous visiting and catching up with friends and neighbors. For visitors it’s a place to enjoy laid back, authentic events.
The Amateur snow sculpture contest hosted by the Pregnancy Resource Center begins during the week, and ends with a Judging contest on Friday evening. This is a fun event for friends, family, and businesses to put together a team come down to Legion Park and build a snowman, turtle, or whatever! You can let your imagination run wild!
Saturday morning the Catholic Church hosts a pancake breakfast so you can carb up for the days activities!
The fast paced ski-joring returns with charging horses and carving skiers. While it might be face-paced, it is also a low key event that beginners, and kids are encouraged to participate in. This event is a blast to watch and participate in! Spectators can tailgate along the course, mingle, and let the kids play. Participants are always wanted! If you don?t have a team don?t worry! Show up to the registration and we can match you with someone, we always have more skiers than riders, so single riders are especially encouraged to show up! Registration occurs Friday evening before the event, and the event takes place Saturday, there will be a Calcutta between runs. The event start time is dependent on weather conditions.
BRAAP! Don?t forget one of Pinedale most popular winter activities, Snowmobiling! Pinedale Snow Explorers and Altitude Offroad will return to host some event awesomeness! They have held kids sno-cross, and snowmobile drag races on the lake, what will it be this year? Stay tuned?
Evening events will also be held at the local drinking holes! Saturday night the Brew Pub will host a band, and Main Street will announce the Ski-Joring winners, and crown the 2018 Winter Carnival King and Queen. Last years royalty included Patrick Ingram and Tesa Manning. Manning has taken her job very seriously as the representative of Winter Carnival. Ms. Manning LOVES Winter, and has assisted in channeling the especially wintery weather, we have been seeing this year in preparation. The couple has also been seen numerous places sporting their ?crowns? which are fur lined bomber hats. They will be a hard act to follow.
The Cardboard Classic returns to White Pine on Sunday. The Cardboard Classic is a hilarious event that show cases the imagination of our residents! Teams decide a theme for their craft and build a sled out of cardboard to race down the tubing hill. Spectators have witnessed everything from a Viking ship, a log, magic carpet, dutch oven, and a simple box. Teams are limited to 1 racing run down the hill. Registration and a Calcutta will take place onsite.
Winter Carnival will be wrapped up this year on Sunday evening by continuing the party at the World Famous Corral Bar Yukon Cornelius Corn Hole Tournament!
