“Spring Mountain Geology Trek” August 12, 9-2pm
Matthew Brueseke: Kansas State University will lead this Wind River Visitor Council Adventure Trek Series program August 12th from 9-2pm. Join us to explore the geological record of the northern margin of the Wind River basin, via a trek up the back side of Spring Mountain. There, we will examine igneous and sedimentary rocks, discuss and see evidence of ancient oceans, the making of mountains, and more recent volcanic activity and glaciers. A high-clearance and/or 4-wheel-drive vehicle is recommended to get to the parking area where the trek will leave from.
Difficult hiking, bear spray, bug spray, hiking boots, trekking poles, water, and lunch required. Advanced registration required. $10 per person. Call the Dubois Museum at 1-307-455-2284 to reserve you place.
