Aaron Odom, SC Theater Faculty, describes the show as the following: ?This show defined the subgenre of what we now know as ?camp.?? The show will be performed in the classic tradition of having the movie projected on a screen behind the actors, who will be playing many of the scenes live on stage in sync with the film. Odom continued, ?This staging has been performed literally thousands of times since the film originally premiered in 1975. Since then, the production has become a staple of many theatre groups? regular seasons all over the world.? Those who have seen the film will recognize actor Tim Curry in his career-launching role as the androgynous Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Actors Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meat Loaf also make notable appearances in the film.
?The traditional staging of the production is anything but traditional,? Odom explained. ?While the show is fairly adult in theme, it?s made more fun by the fact that it?s meant for the audience to be totally interactive.? Odom elaborated that the audience is invited to yell out at the show after certain prompts, ?? there are even props that the audience can throw at the actors, or even at each other during certain times of the play.? He noted that a list of these props can easily be found online, and a script of what the cast is referring to as ?shout-outs? can also be easily found online. Odom noted that the club may even have pre-made bags of props ready for purchase at the event
