Jackson Hole Skijoring has joined the Cutter Races in providing visitors and residents alike with a great winter spectator sport. Skijoring also had its origins over 75 years ago in Jackson Hole and the Western tradition continues today! The event benefits The Shriner’s Children’s Hospitals.
Skijoring is the unexpected and glorious clash of two counter cultures, extreme ski and rodeo. Imagine a horse rearing up, then suddenly accelerating from zero to 40 in just three strides. Imagine a skier grasping a 30 foot hemp rope and being towed over a snow covered course, rounding gates landing 6-8 foot jumps. Imagine the course lined with thousands of cheering spectators as the snow and ice fly. Welcome to Jackson Hole Skijoring!
